Our selected social impact organizations, whether for-profit or nonprofit, demonstrate a commitment to transparency and collaboration, poised to elevate their crucial work to the next level.

What We Offer:

  • Skilled volunteers dedicated to strengthening your organization’s capacity in key areas hindering your full potential.
  • A pledge to collaborative partnership, acknowledging power differentials in funding relationships and actively working to mitigate their effects. We value honest feedback, accountability for mistakes, and strive for mutually beneficial solutions.

Expectations from You:

  • Willingness to identify and openly share challenges holding your organization back.
  • Flexibility and openness to working with volunteers with diverse professional backgrounds and busy schedules.
  • A commitment to providing constructive feedback when needed, fostering honest relationships.
  • Annual work plans and final reports outlining focused capacity-building areas, their relation to your mission, and achieved milestones.

Guiding Principles:

SVP prioritizes partnerships with social impact organizations that share:

  • An understanding of the importance of internal organizational capacity for mission achievement.
  • A well-defined mission for both programs and infrastructure.
  • Strong, stable, and committed leadership.
  • The internal capacity to engage in SVP partnerships, including self-assessment, volunteer collaboration, and document review.

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated success in collaboration or partnership.
  • Proven results and a desire to address root causes of community issues.
  • Specific internal organizational challenges hindering full potential achievement.

Our Selection Process:

  • Application review by the SVP Dallas Partners’ selection committee.
  • Shortlisted organizations undergo site visits, conversations with leadership, and complete the SVP Dallas Nonprofit Impact Institute (NPII) Assessment.
  • Advisee selection announcement on April 25th, 2024, with chosen organizations presenting at our annual Spark Tank event in May. Advisees will Pitch For a $2,500 Prize (Selected by Attending SVP Dallas Partners); SVP Dallas Partners will review and sign up for advisee projects to begin the first week of June
  • Selected 2024 Advisees may also receive additional mini grants throughout their engagement.

Selection Timeline:

Wednesday, January 31st – SVP Dallas Advisee Application Opens
Thursday, February 8th @ NoonQ & A Meeting for the Application and Nonprofit Institute Assessment Tool via Zoom for Potential Applicants
Friday, February 28th – Applications Due by 5 PM
Thursday, April 4th – Finalists Notified for Site Visits
Week of April 22nd – Advisees Selected and Invited to Present Their Organization and Proposed Project at Spark Tank
Week of May 13th – Spark Tank!
First Week of June – Projects Begin
June 13th – Advisee Clinic Series 1 (Mission, Strategy & Fundraising) 8 am-12:30 pm at Pegasus Park
October 10th – Advisee Clinic Series 2 (Leadership-Board, Staff & Volunteers) 8 am-12:30 pm at Pegasus Park
2 Additional Advisee Clinics TBD in 2025
