Launched in 2023 the SVP Dallas Nonprofit Impact Institute (NPII) was established with two goals:

  • To empower our SVP Dallas Partners’ ability to serve the North Texas nonprofit community by enhancing their capacity-building skills, enabling them to become more effective nonprofit board members and volunteers; and
  • To provide a comprehensive range of educational resources for nonprofit board members and nonprofit leaders, including:
    • Standards for ethics, accountability, and operational excellence
    • Education on best practices in nonprofit management
    • Self-assessment tools

NPII materials were developed in collaboration with the * Standards for Excellence Institute® and will be shared with program participants via Workshops, a Toolkit Series, and Self-Assessment Tools.

Advisee Clinic Series Workshops

The purpose of NPII Workshops is to provide participants with a deep and immersive learning experience, as well as resources (tools, templates, and plans) to facilitate the application of their new knowledge, and implementation of strategies to achieve higher levels of excellence in their roles and organizations.

Held throughout the year, these sessions are presented in-person, as stand-alone, longer format learning modules, led by SVP Dallas Partners and subject matter experts from across our community.

For reference, our past workshops include:

  • The Board’s Role in Fundraising
  • Collaborative Leadership
  • Program Evaluation
  • The 990 Form and Beyond: What You Need to Know
  • Influencing Public Policy in the Digital Age

Toolkit Series

The Toolkit Series is a half-hour, once-monthly lunch series designed for nonprofit board members and executives. Easy-to-implement tools and templates will be shared so that participants can immediately begin implementing to meet best practice standards.

Each virtual session will include a short presentation on context and implementation with time for Q&A. Interested leaders are invited to attend all sessions or only those of specific interest.

Self-Assessment Tools

Curious about how your nonprofit stacks up to the * Standards for Excellence®? You can take a self-assessment which will give you scores in each, for six areas:

  1. Mission, Strategy, & Evaluation
  2. Leadership: Board, Staff, & Volunteers
  3. Legal Compliance & Ethics.
  4. Finance & Operations
  5. Resource Development
  6. Public Awareness, Engagement, & Advocacy

Taking the self-assessment helps nonprofit leaders know where to focus their improvement efforts as they strive to maximize their impact in our community. Please contact us at npii@svpdallas.org to learn more.

* The Standards for Excellence Institute® is a national initiative dedicated to promoting the highest standards of ethics and accountability in nonprofit governance, management, and operations.
