Educational Opportunities

We offer two major types of education opportunities: Office Hours and Workshops

Office Hours

Office hours are held every other month virtually and are open to SVP Dallas Partners and Nonprofit Leaders. We have a topic for each session and will send some educational resources in advance to attendees. Three experts will be available during Office Hours to answer questions about the topic. Examples of topics include strategic planning, board governance, evaluation, 990, etc. Through the generous support of our sponsors, these sessions are free. The upcoming Office Hours are:

  • January 25, 2024 – Fundraising
  • March 6, 2024 – Board Governance
  • May 9, 2024 – Program Evaluation

Workshops

Workshops are held quarterly and provide a deep dive into a subject of nonprofit management. The goal for SVP Dallas Partners, nonprofit board members and nonprofit leaders to have a deeper learning experience and also leave with tools, templates, and plans for future steps on that topic. These are longer, in-person, stand-alone sessions taught by SVP Dallas Partners and experts who have worked n these areas. The upcoming Workshops are:

  • February 22, 2024 – Collaborative Leadership
  • May 23, 2024 – Board/ Executive Partnership

Self-Assessment Tools

Curious about how your nonprofit stacks up to the Standards for Excellence? You can take a self-assessment which will give you scores in each fo six areas:

  1. Mission, Strategy, & Evaluation
  2. Leadership: Board, Staff, & Volunteers
  3. Legal Compliance & Ethics.
  4. Finance & Operations
  5. Resource Development
  6. Public Awareness, Engagement, & Advocacy

Taking the self-assessment helps nonprofit leaders know where to focus their improvement efforts as they strive to maximize their impact in our community.
