You might have heard about impact investing but what does it all mean? Why is everyone suddenly so interested?
During the last year, people have been more in tune with the many things happening in the world. This global COVID-19 pandemic has raised much concern for issues in society, how we can do our part, and be more vocal regarding injustices. We have had time to reflect on what is at stake by supporting certain companies and products especially at a time when our funds might be limited. The bottom line is that people do not want to place their cash with corporations they dislike or with groups that have values that do not align with theirs.
Regardless, impact investing has taken off across the country and we have seen an increase here in North Texas. Tying a societal objective to finance is not new and more investors want to work alongside government and philanthropy to address root causes.
